At LUG, you have the opportunity to study the core foundation courses for a globally recognised politics and international degree in a dynamic interactive culture. You will also be able to pursue your own interests through a list of optional modules. Our Politics and International Relations programme offers a curriculum that combines theory and practice. The combination of theoretical knowledge and practical involvement strikes a healthy balance between traditional academic learning and more hands-on experiences.

The study of politics and international relations involves a broad range of subject-areas. These begin with the formalized institutions of authority and decision-making, but extends into the study of firms, economies, industries and theories of economic development, as well as issues of class, gender, race, ethnicity and other forms of inequalities that may manifest at the local and global levels. This contextualised to provide particular attention to the study of politics on the African continent, and the positioning of African countries within the world. The knowledge and skills acquired during your studies and the international recognition of the degree will provide you with the tools and opportunities to develop professional careers in a wide variety of settings on the international stage.

Our academic year consists of three trimesters.

Commencing January 2019, you can expect the following tuition fees per annum:
&dash   Undergraduate programme: $9,000
&dash   Registration fees: $900

NB: Textbooks, photocopying, stationery items, housing, meals and other incidental costs are not included in the tuition fees above.

We welcome applications from students with a range of international qualifications, including combinations of qualification. Below are our grade requirements for this programme:

  ‐ WASSCE: A one year Foundation Programme is required
  ‐ 'A' levels: CCC or above (Direct entry into undergraduate level)
  ‐ IB students: 27 points (Direct entry into undergraduate level)
  ‐ IB French system: Overall mark of 9 in the total average score 
(All students outside France need a 6.5 IELTS score)
  ‐ IELTS: 6.5 or above (minimum of 5.5 per each component)
  ‐ Pearson: 65 or above (minimum of 51 points per component)

Our Careers and Employability Department has a dedicated career zone for student to drop in. They also organise a range of workshops and activities through the academic year including CV workshops, mock interviews and an Annual Career Day to best prepare students for internship and job opportunities.

We are engaged in industry where our careers department support and groom students for internships in various sectors. Many of our graduates find jobs in a variety of industries such as financial institutions, banks and the ministries, while others have gone on to pursue their masters in various institutions in Ghana, the United Stated and the United Kingdom.
