The TAG / LUG English Proficiency Programme (EPP) is a one-year English course designed for students who wish to raise their English language skills for higher academic education and/or professional purposes. The programme consists of four terms of ten weeks (nine teaching weeks and one assessment week per term), covering different topics designed to build language skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening, etc.). The programme is intended to lead students from elementary level to an intermediate level of English proficiency (an IELTS minimum score of 5.5).

The duration of an individual candidate's course depends on the outcome of a diagnostic test that determines the entry point (Term 1, 2, 3 or 4).

Term 1 (Beginner level) starts in October. It takes the student through A1 (Beginner - Common European Framework (CEF) level).

Term 2 (Elementary level) starts in January. It revises A1 (Beginner Level) and takes the student through to A2 (Elementary - CEF level).

Term 3 (Pre-Intermediate level) starts in April. It revises A2 and covers the competencies of half of B1 (Pre-Intermediate - CEF level).

Term 4 (Intermediate level) starts in July and completes the remaining competencies of B1 (Intermediate CEF level). It also includes some competences of B2 (Upper-Intermediate CEF level).

Commencing January 2018, you can expect the tuition fees per term to be $500 (inclusive of Textbooks, photocopying and learning materials)

NB: Stationery items, housing, meals and other incidental costs are not included in the tuition fees above.

The requirements are based on diagnostic assessment.

Upon passing the final term examinations, a certificate of successful completion will be awarded to the student. Students could also gain direct entry into LUG's foundation and undergraduate programmes - provided they take an IELTS test privately and meet the entry requirements for their programmes of choice.
