Course Start- 30 Apr 2017

International Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering (2iE)

Set up to meet training needs in that area, the Bachelor’s program in Engineering option Water and Sanitation enables to train highly qualified executives capable of understanding, analyzing needs, planning, implementing and managing water and sanitation programs leaning on innovative tools and approaches.

As part of the new academic program, the Bachelor of Engineering program will lead to three (3) specializations that aim at building proficiency in the areas of: Water, Sanitation, Civil Engineering, Hydraulics, Electricity and Energy.

  • Water and Sanitation (WS)
  • Civil Engineering and Hydraulics (CEH)
  • Electrical and Energy Engineering (EEE)

The corresponding academic paths are :

The Bachelor of Engineering program takes three years of post-secondary study.  Every school-year is divided in two semesters.

The 1st and 2nd semesters (common for the three specializations) focus on basic sciences, engineering techniques, economic and social sciences and humanities.

The 3rd and 4th semesters (2nd year of the curriculum) are common for the Water and Sanitation  (WS) and Civil Engineering and Hydraulics (CEH) specializations. They are partly devoted to the reinforcement of the modules of basic sciences, engineering techniques, economic and social sciences and humanities and also to the introduction of modules of applied techniques in the area of civil engineering, electrical engineering, irrigation management, water supply management, and sanitation.

For the specialization Electrical and Energy Engineering (EEE), the 3rd and 4th semesters are partly devoted to the reinforcement of the modules of basic sciences, engineering techniques, economic and social sciences and humanities and also to the bolstering of the courses on applied techniques related to the electrical and energy engineering specialization.

The third year of the Bachelor of Engineering program (5th and 6th semesters) is specific to each specialization. It is a pre-professionalization of the acquired knowledge and it prepares the student for his/her specialization pathway.

Courses are divided into formal lectures, directed studies, and practical work in the research laboratories, study projects and field trips.

A final year project in the third year allows each student to take up his/her specialization.

Each training year is organized in Units of 60 credits ECTS.

In each of the three (3) specialization, le total number of teaching hours per year is 780 (2 x 390) hours including the directed studies, practical work, projects and field trips.

Every Unit of teaching include the constituent elements of teaching units or disciplines such as fluids dynamics, free surface hydraulics or __ (non-detailed here after).

The Bachelor of Engineering program includes a professional path that prepares to the profession of civil engineer. This path requires compulsory internships in a company and the writing of a final dissertation and a defense in front of juries.

Students who choose the professional pathway join the work market place directly after obtaining their Bachelor of Engineering degree.

The Bachelor’s program in Water and Environment Engineering is open to students who hold a technical or scientific A-level.

Students are selected on consideration of their application form, according to their initial training level and the relevancy of their professional project.

At the end of this training, the student who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Water and Environment Engineering (3 year university degree) will:

-  Have the necessary scientific, technical and managerial skills to carry out his/her studies in a Master (5 years university degree).

-  Be able to carry out a complete market research in the areas of water, sanitation, energy, civil engineering, mines and quarries, including the technical and financial analysis.

-  Know how to conduct a building site.

-  Acquire fundamental managerial and entrepreneurial skills, which will be developed in the next curriculum.
