Description

The University College of Management Studies (UCOMS) evolved out of the Institute of Management Studies(IMS), a Tutorial College which prepared students for professional qualifications (certificates) in Marketing (Chartered Institute of Marketing - CIM), Accounting (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants - ACCA) and Purchasing and Supply (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply - CIPS). Students have since 1978 been taking United Kingdom external examinations in these professions.

The University College shall create an environment and facilities which will inculcate the requisite competencies and attitude in its products. Such professional and academic competencies will enable them to provide productive service to the society.

Accréditation & Distinctions

The University College of Management Studies (formerly known as Institute of Management Studies - IMS) was granted its first Accreditation in 1998 by the National Accreditation Board to offer tutorial programmes leading to UK Professional Qualifications such as ACCA, ACMA, CA (Gh), MCIM, and MCIPS.

The second Accreditation was granted in 2006, enabling the University College to offer the following Undergraduate Programmes: B.Sc. Accounting, B.Sc. Banking and Finance, B.Sc. Human Resource Management, B.Sc. Marketing, B.Sc. Procurement and Supply Chain Management. We are affiliated to the University of Education Winneba (UEW), Winneba and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. UCOMS is also accredited with ACCA-UK, CIM-UK and CIPS-UK.
