Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) is a higher education institution in South Africa that came into being through a merger of three technikons — Technikon Northern Gauteng, Technikon North-West and Technikon Pretoria. As the number of students registering annually grows rapidly, records show that Tshwane University of Technology caters for approximately 60,000 students and it has become the largest residential higher education institution in South Africa

Established in 2004, TUT is the largest residential university in South Africa. The University has nine campuses in Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Limpopo, with two learning sites in Durban and Cape Town.
The University was recently academically ranked (2016 – 2017) as the top University of Technology in South Africa (URAP), as well as the top University of Technology in Africa (Webometrics).
